WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE ARE ABOUT......

The Mike Bernard Acadiana Chapter is a member of the American Hibiscus Society serving the Acadiana region of Louisiana.  We were formed in 2000 and have grown to over 60 members. Monthly meetings are held at the Ira Nelson Horticulture Center located at 2206 Johnson Street in Lafayette, LA.  Meetings are held from February to November and start at 6:00 P.M. on the first Tuesday of every month.

Every year we participate in the Festival des Fleurs flower show that is sponsored by the Ira Nelson Horticulture Center which is an instructional laboratory facility of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

The Mike Bernard Acadiana chapter also sponsors its own flower show and sale held annually at Cathedral-Carmel High School.  The show is open to the public free of charge and anyone who wishes to exhibit blooms may do so.  Entry times are 8:00 - 11:30 with the sale portion beginning at 1PM.  Hundreds of blooms will be on display as well as numerous varieties of Cajun Hibiscus provided by Dupont Nursery from Plaquemine, LA will be available for sale.

The chapter also has other activities such as ice cream socials, annual chapter bar-b-que, guest speakers, demonstrations and more at the monthly meetings.

Everyone is invited to the meetings.  We hope to see you soon!
